People around the world have reacted in horror as the events taking place during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine are reported in the news, but when local developer Gary Taveirne saw those images, he decided to act.

When first proposed five years ago, some questioned the wisdom of any private developer embarking on construction of a hip new luxury residential building for Windsor’s downtown.

Klundert said builders are now paying between $250,000 and $300,000 for a 50- to-55 foot wide by 120-foot-deep lot in Comber and Harrow. The costs are even higher closer to Windsor and its suburbs.

Anita and the Klundert family presented hospital administration with a cheque for $190,000 to go directly towards mental health services.

B.K. Cornerstone presented a $350,000 cheque to the grassroots organization, which helps patients with cancer, or other life threatening illnesses and special needs.
